Caroline Holliday is a Brisbane born emerging artist whose quirky and inventive style is abstract figurative in nature. She enjoys working intuitively with a range of materials including metal, clay and wood. She is inspired by the found object and delights in bringing new life into something considered by others to be obsolete. In creating a piece of art she aims to stimulate an emotional response in the viewer.
Her work reflects a concern for our increasing disregard for the natural environment and our arrogance towards the suffering of animals. Another concern reflected in her artwork is the increasing estrangement of individuals from each other and nature through technology, urban living and fast-paced lifestyles – our time for being still, being reflective and thinking creatively is being compromised.
Her current study of a Cert 1 in Fine Art at Brisbane Institute of Art has given her the opportunity to develop skills in sculpture, ceramics, painting and drawing.
